County Treasurers, who are elected to four-year terms, serve as the County Banker, County Investment Manger, Tax Collector and Safekeeper of all taxes.
Basic Responsibilities include:
Collection of local taxes, most noted are Real Estate, special assessments and manufactured homes.
Safekeeping of taxes collected for subdivisions such as schools, cities, townships and villages.
Receives all monies collected by other County Departments.
The Lorain County Treasurer’s Office offers a monthly installment plan designed to assist taxpayers in budgeting their semi-annual real estate tax bills.
The Prepayment Plan provides for monthly payment of current (no delinquencies) semi-annual real estate taxes.
The Taxpayer must enter into a Real Estate Escrow Agreement with the Treasurer’s Office which lays out the terms and conditions of the programs. This information will be mailed to you upon receipt of the application.
The office will be closed on the following dates in observation of official government holidays.
